Newnham Music on the Green

Just the one gig this weekend (it was actually meant to be two, but we had a cancellation).

Those of you that have known us long enough will remember that when we first started out (back in 2013!) we had a Sax player called Bill. He left several years ago to pursue other projects, but we kept in touch and when his village festival needed a band to close the show this year, he put us forward for it. Thanks Bill! It was good to catch up, and hopefully we’ll pursuade you to get up with us next time!

Now, we’ve been quite busy lately, so all of our gear has taken a bit of a hammering. We rarely encounter technical problems (shouldn’t say that!), but this evening we seemed to encounter all of them at once! First of all, Jimmy’s amp went down, and usually the failsafe for this is to DI straight into the PA with his ampless rig…however the PA wasn’t working either. Nightmare!

Being fairly local, Jimmy planned to nip home to fetch a different PA and guitar amp, but after a fair amount of swearing and kicking, the PA system sprung to life and the show was saved. Breathe.

The gig was fantastic - hundreds of people sat out on the green in the beautiful sunshine, enjoying great beer from the pub nearby. It didn’t take long for a significant portion of the audience to get up and dance.

We’ve got a little bit of a break now, so I think we’ll get that PA system looked at and get ready to return in September.

Until next time,

The Doc
